Shiitake Update

We've gotten our first mushroom!

The first shocking of the log yielded no results. According to the instruction manual, shipping often disrupts the mycelia. After allowing the log to rest 2 weeks, another shocking has produced 1 mushroom. The log will follow a cycle of 2 months of rest followed by shocking and fruiting with maintenance soaks every 2 weeks. Each fruiting should become greater in size and number of shiitakes for 4-5 years.
