"Wish you were here!"
We sent out a tweet this morning inquiring if "anyone was out," and got back a response from Aaron and Jeff.
They said: "Live Report, 18-20mph steady East winds...."
Yes! My heart started skipping a beat. Today is going to be a good day.
"Flat Water. Eighty degrees."
Wait. What??
"Oh, and most importantly, Key West. Wish you all were here!"
(Insert noise of a deflating kite here)
We decided to get on out to the beach and see what was going on for ourselves. We found the wind was blowing about 20mph side onshore with lots of fun wave riding to be had. Travis took the 6m and I took the 4m. We had a lot of fun, but we also got worked and so did the kites. There were some mean waves out there today. Let me tell you from experience that at all costs you should avoid the "deer in the headlights" syndrome when a large wall of water builds up unexpectedly in front of you. It can only lead to a spanking of some sort. Phillip and Neil joined us for a cold and rainy winter session that lasted until dark. We had one unfortunate incident when then end of Phillip's bar unexpectedly exploded and sent his kite flagging into the power zone. Luckily, the kite landed itself nicely on the beach.
Aaron and Jeff, it was 50 degrees with sweet wind and waves and we wish you would have been here!
